Get the best deal on a new mattress
"They say the media doesn't report good news, but I come before you today with three nice-sounding numbers: 7, 12 and 15. Those are three estimates of how much growth the mattress category will record next year. Yes, you heard us correctly. We said 'growth.' That's not a word that has been heard in Mattressville in recent years."
That's how David Perry, executive editor of Furniture Today and the writer of the Bedding Today blog, started a recent post about the latest mattress-industry forecast by the International Sleep Products Association. The projections Perry mentions represent a 7 percent growth in the dollar value of mattress shipments in 2010 and a 12 to 15 percent dollar gain for the industry.

Does anyone have information on the foam mattresses--eg. Temperpedic, etch? Thanks

To P. Campo-I work in the mattress industry for Leggett and Platt, a group that produces innersprings, and my sister works for Tempur-Pedic. She is a HUGE fan of the product as are many of the people that own them. They are different than the typical mattress and there are those that swear by the unique comfort that they can provide. I would suggest that you take it for a test drive in a store for yourself before you make that final commitment as some feel it is too different for them. The biggest downside that I hear out there is that they sleep hot, and they can sort of suck you in a little as that is the nature of the Visco Foam they use. If you visit their facebook page you will get a good taste of the feedback out there good and bad. You can also visit their website and see their new commercials that they did a very good job of producing. If you try it out and the conforming thing is a little too much, look for an innerspring bed that has a layer of visco in the top of the bed. You may find a good ballance. Hope that helps!
