Inside Consumer Reports Test Labs: World premiere of our toilet-paper-testing video
When it comes to toilet paper, either we're creatures of habit and buy the same product all the time or we stick to a budget and buy whatever's on sale at the supermarket or warehouse club.
At Consumer Reports, we test toilet paper based on criteria like strength, tearing ease, and disintegration to determine the likelihood of their causing plumbing problems. We also cover softness—as we reported in "Greenpeace Flushes Toilet Papers That Don't Meet Its Green Criteria," Americans love soft paper—and highlight papers that combine good performance and value. (Not that it's a surprise, but it generally pays to buy in bulk.) See how we test toilet paper in this brand-new video, right.
Our new ratings-based report on toilet paper will appear in the May 2009 issue of Consumer Reports, online and on newsstands as of April 6.
