Get rid of bedbugs

Cro_bedbug_posterrevBedbug Epidemic Attacks New York City” is the headline the Daily News slapped on a December 30, 2007, special investigation. The article, by Douglas Feiden, reported that “In the fiscal year that ended in June, [in New York City] 6,889 infestation complaints were logged and 2,008 building owners were hit with summonses,” a substantial jump from 537 complaints and 82 landlords citations in 2004.

“The scourge has left no section of the city untouched,” the story continued. “Complaints and enforcement actions soared in 57 of the 59 community boards.” Even designer Ralph Lauren’s offices had an outbreak of bedbugs, according to the piece.

As we reported last summer, infestations of Cimex lectularius are on the rise in the United States and elsewhere in North America, Western Europe, and Australia.

I brought home bed bugs from Extended Stay America inDes Plaines Illinois. We had seen them while at the hotel and they said it was an outside bug and we had never seen bed bugs before. Months later we found the same bugs in our home bed and found out they are bed bugs. I have thousands of dollars in medical bill from bed bug bites to the point all my skin is covered with them on arms, hands, chest, legs and feet.

what is the the best thing to use to get rid of bed bugs?

I've heard the mattress covers for fighting bed bugs need to be entry, escape and "bite proof". Is this really the case? I've only found one company (Protect-A-Bed AllerZip) that sells mattress or pillow covers claiming to be "bite proof". I bought 2 mattress covers and 6 pillow cases. On five out of the six pillow covers, the zippers weren't sewn right and fell off the back end when I unzipped them. I've sent these pillow cases back and I'd like to purchase from some other company with a higher quality product, but no other company sells a product that is "bite proof". In fact for some strange reason, Protect-A-Bed seems to be the premiere product.
