Purchased the Bosch 500 Series Nexxt washer this week based on CR report. Second day noticed terrible scratches on top of washer. Determined it was caused by empty laundry basket sitting on top of washer during cycles. Called Bosch to get new lid free of charge and was told that placing a laundry basket on top of the washer is considered consumer abuse of the product and is not covered by the warranty. CR states top is porcelain (which is one of the reasons I chose it), Bosch says the top is NOT porcelain and nothing should be placed on top of the washer or damage will be done to the washer. I argued this should be stated in the manual or covered under warranty. Bosch would not replace by top free of charge, but finally offered to have a technician install a new top for a fee of $100. I've already paid $1100 for this machine! I refused their "offer". I am very disappointed in CR's error in description of the product and furious with Bosch for telling me that a reasonable person would not place a laundry basket on top of a washing machine.
