Bing-vs-Google: Now you can try them side by side

Google or Bing? Been wondering which search engine is right for you? Now, you can put them to the test yourself with Bing-vs-Google.

As the name implies, the site puts the two side-by-side for a real-time search engine showdown. Merely type in your query, and a split screen page (see image) with live results from both pages comes up, letting you simultaneously view the results of both searches and see which one is best for you.

Bing, Microsoft’s new search tool, claims it provides a context for searches, making results more pertinent to users. Bing also has a versatile taskbar that displays related searches and a search history (which can be turned off), and offers a no-click preview of the first few paragraphs on a page.

But do any of Bing’s additions make it better than the reigning search champ, Google whose name has become synonymous with Web searching? (“Let me Google that.”)? And will those features help Bing dethrone Google? Time will tell.

In the meantime, give Bing-vs-Google.com a try, and let us know which site’s search results you prefer and why. —Will Dilella

A Bling link has showed up on my Yahoo home page (uninvited), and automatically fills itself in with whatever I type into my Google search page. So I bit, and tried the Bling version of a recent search on Google. The Bling tool got half as many hits as Google, and missed a number of the relevant ones. I think Google is the way to go and the way to stay; Bling seems to be another Microsoft wanna-be that isn't.

ı thing bing isnt pass google. because most of person know google and do first page his/her browser.

I come out the other way on 3 of 4 tests. Example: looking for the phone number of the Safeway pharmacy in Newcastle - a small suburban town outside Seattle. Searched "Newcastle Safeway". Got it as the first result on Bing; Google gave me results for Newcastle, UK.

Good point, Casey. I just did the same comparison and Google beat Bing by a mile.

hehe didn't know that site, thanks for the info
and imo google remains the king although i must admit bing looks really fine.

google always beat microsoft :D

Google wins this matchup. I searched my own name and on Bing, my grandmother's obituary is the first result followed by some sites that do genealogy. Google has my linkedin profile followed by my FB and Google profiles.
