Sony to launch "Bravia M" line for mass-market retailers
Look out, Vizio: In an announcement this week, Sony confirmed that it would offer a new Bravia M-series line to Wal-Mart, Target and other mass-market retailers as part of an effort to broaden its customer base. The move follows Vizio's announcement that its TVs will be available in Wal-Mart stores nationwide. Sony hasn't yet disclosed pricing for the sets, but initially the Bravia M sets — all 720p models — will be offered in 26-, 32-, and 40-inch screen sizes. Wal-Mart is expected to be the first customer, with sets arriving in late July or early August. The line will also be offered to other mass-market dealers, including Target. The value-priced TVs will likely not be as fully featured as Sony's other Bravia models (such as the highly rated KDL-40XBR2*, pictured above), and will reportedly have different cosmetics.
