Average gas prices—November 3, 2008
Yet again, gasoline and diesel prices show a significant 25.6-cent drop from the week before. The national gasoline average is now 61.3 cents below the price this time last year.

$2.24 in the midwest? I don't know about the rest of the states, but here in KS it's down to $1.97.... I'd like to know why it's dropped so starkly and so quickly... it's lower NOW than when I graduated high school 5 years ago (it was $2.14). I thought that on election day it would jump again, but instead prices dropped another 3 cents!
